- Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway side-by-side is E-VERY-THING
I just want y’all to enjoy this clip of two musical giants singing “Baby, I Love You” together. Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway singing side-by-side back in ’72 at the Double Exposure Concert is E-VERY-THING. Y’all know I gotta get dramatic with it. But it’s so good.
I read that this concert was filmed as a documentary in ‘72, which makes it hard for me to believe that it wasn’t televised until August 10, 1976 according to news outlets. Well, it’s still not officially released as far as I know. If y’all know different, please fill us in. Y’all know it’s so rare to see live performances of Donny Hathaway. I would love to see this released in the near future.

The song they are singing is “Baby, I Love You” which was originally released by Aretha Franklin in July ‘67. Have y’all heard her version?
Now, a lot of us might know Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway’s duet, “The Closer I Get To You,” but they also had a whole duet album that was released in 1972. It’s incredible. Their song “Be Real Black For Me” is one of my favorite tracks.
