Happy birthday to legendary songstress Minnie Riperton! We love you!
Minnie Riperton, born November 8, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, was a down-to-earth American singer-songwriter celebrated for her incredible vocal talent. She had a knack for hitting those ultra-high notes with pure clarity and precision. With her one-of-a-kind voice, Riperton made a lasting impression on the music scene, connecting with audiences through heartfelt performances and soulful tunes.
Riperton got her start in the late 1960s with the psychedelic soul group Rotary Connection, but it was her solo work in the 1970s that really made waves. Her big break came when she dropped her album “Perfect Angel” in 1974, featuring her smash hit, “Lovin’ You.” This song highlighted her incredible vocal range, reaching those famous whistle register highs, and it became a worldwide sensation.
